Message from a Thankful parent at the Harrah School Campus – As you may know, the Harrah Campus had a Secure and Teach that transitioned into a Lockdown situation this week. Messages were posted on the District Website as well as Facebook in order to keep parents informed. Unfortunately, for the security and safety of all involved, the District is not able to provide details of the situation to the general public. That said, we learned from this situation that the number one concern of parents is they want to know if there is an active shooter on campus, which there was not, yet we are considering making that awareness part of future communication. Thank you to the parents that phoned in to help us better understand how we could potentially craft the correct message for parents. In addition, we had one parent who took the time to send a note of thanks to Principal Widener and the entire Harrah Campus Staff for the way the incident was handled this week:
Dear Harrah Elementary and Mount Adams Middle School staff,
Thank you for everything you did yesterday. My kids said that they were scared but everyone knew what to do. They told me many stories of staff helping get kids to safety quickly and how both the staff and students comforted each other during the lockdown, and these are stories just from my kids. I know there are many, many more stories of brave helpers and strong leaders. Thank you for keeping everyone safe and keeping up with the safety trainings. Thank you for caring deeply for these kids. Your love and dedication is felt by them.
New Assistant Principal at the Harrah Campus - …Well, not too new. We all know Mr. Cesar Hernandez, but what you might not know is that he has been “interim assistant principal” this school year since he was appointed last summer to his position rather than having interviewed for the job. Mr. Hernandez participated in a competitive interview for his position this week and was named the permanent Assistant Principal for the Harrah Campus – Congratulations Mr. Hernandez! On a sad note, we are going to say goodbye to Mr. Manni at the Harrah Campus. Mr. Manni will be taking a “Head Master” position at another school starting next year, so I hope that you are able to let Mr. Manni know that you have appreciated his leadership and support of our students at Mt. Adams Middle School and Harrah Elementary. We wish Mr. Manni a successful move in his career.
Mark your Calendars for the Hispanic Culture Day on the White Swan Campus May 4th – Due to the fact that many of our high school students will be gone for the livestock show on May 3rd the Leadership group has moved the Hispanic Culture day from May 3rd to May 4th.
