WSSDA Annual Conference
Washington State School Directors learned a lot about budgets, artificial
intelligence, legislative priorities, student mental health needs, and many other
topics at the Annual WSSDA Conference in Bellevue this past week. Four out of five
MASD Directors attended the WSSDA Annual Conference this week. There were
over a thousand other State Directors who joined our Directors in Bellevue for this
important and informative event.
Professional Learning Team provide Professional Learning
On the Harrah Campus, the Inclusion Professional Learning Team conducted a
professional learning session in which staff explored what it really means to foster
collaboration and community as they watched video examples of Harrah teachers
modeling best practice in their collaborative work to improve our efforts to provide
high levels of learning for every student every day.
Lego Wars at Harrah!
In computer science, 7th and 8th grade students worked together in teams
competing to see which team was able to construct the tallest tower of Legos.
There was stress, pressure, intense strategy, and a lot of anxiety shared between
team members to win this intense competition. What a wonderful way to learn with
this type of hand-on learning event.
Samantha Skunk is in the Building Again
Samantha Skunk continues to teach lessons on prevention and successful behaviors
to students at Harrah. The Dream Makers rehearse their lines for the production of
the “Samantha Skunk Play” they will soon present to k-2 students. The Dream
Makers create lasting memories for our young students.
Parent-Teacher Conferences this week!
Parent-Teacher Conferences this week!
Conferences were held Wednesday Night through Friday at 1:30. Both Harrah Campus and the White Swan Campus had a record turnout of parents. A result of these visits is improved student support from families and better and intentional communication between parents, students, and teachers. Thank you to the teachers for preparing for these visits and to the parents and guardians who were able to attend.
The Charger Hoopsters are on the court!
The Chargers Basketball team, sporting their brand new jerseys, will soon be playing in the Mt. Adams Middle School Charger Gym. These netminders, rim rulers, and basket busters will make their mark in the league this year. Based on practice statistics, Mr. Hernandez believes that our student athletes are off to a great basketball season.
The Harrah Campus has new student growth goals
Principal Widener attended a seminar regarding new student growth goals and has begun to think about how that will impact Harrah Elementary School and Mt. Adams Middle School next year. Mrs. Widener wrote, “I want to give a huge shout out to Mr. Hernandez and Mr. Miles for doing such great work around the building and being such great advocates to staff, students and myself. It makes it much easier to leave the building and plan the future programs at Harrah knowing that the building is in such capable hands.” Thank you Mr. Hernandez and Mr. Miles!
